BECTU pens Birmingham Royal Ballet deal
BECTU, the entertainment sector of Prospect, have agreed a new deal for staff at the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
The deal gives a 3% rise for those earning below £50,000 and 2% for those earning above that level. Casual rates of pay also increase by 3% and all allowances come into line with the UK Theatre agreement.
The union also secured two weeks’ full paternity pay.
The one-year deal which runs from April 2018 was “overwhelmingly accepted” by members on a 75% turnout.
An added bonus was that after a recruitment drive at the ballet, BECTU membership increased by a quarter.
