BA dispute sees membership surge

General union Unite announced that it had seen a surge in membership among British Airways cabin crew leading up to last month’s 48-hour strike over low pay.

As of 9 January, the day before the strike, over 800 crew members from British Airways’ “mixed fleet” (who fly a combination of long- and short-haul destinations), had joined the union since the start of the dispute.

Unite national officer Oliver Richardson said: “More and more ‘mixed fleet’ cabin crew have joined Unite as this dispute over poverty pay has gone on.”
