New Year dip for settlements 


In January, the median rise in pay settlements on LRD’s Payline database fell back sharply to 2.8% from 3.5% at the end of 2018. The decrease has narrowed the gap between LRD’s findings and those of XpertHR. 


In the three months to January, both the median for collectively agreed public and private sector settlements showed substantially smaller increases on the lowest rate compared with the previous month.


Official data on average weekly earnings in December showed a 3.2% increase in regular pay compared with a 3.5% increase the previous month.
