Postal union in Finland rejects employer’s plan


The Finnish post office Posti has withdrawn its controversial proposal to move 700 parcel workers out of the scope of the national postal agreement, by transferring them to a new company. The plan was rejected by the postal union PAU, which argued that it would significantly cut the income of already low-paid staff. Following a national strike, which began on 11 November, the dispute was resolved on 25 November, when Posti agreed that the new company would join the postal employers’ association and so be covered by the national agreement.
