Gender pay gap in France

New earnings figures — broken down by industry-level collective agreement — show the extent of the gender pay gap in France.

The statistics, produced by DARES, the research arm of the French labour ministry, show that on average women covered by collective agreements earn 19.8% less than men, calculated on the net monthly salary of a full-time equivalent employee. The ocupational gap is largest among executives (20.3%) and smallest among non-manual employees not working in professional or technical jobs (7.6%).

The collective agreements where the gender pay gap is highest are banking (37.6%), accountancy (33.6%), medical practices (33.5%) and mutual insurance companies (31.1%).
