United action at UPS over excessive work
A dispute between the Unite general union on behalf of overworked members at a UPS parcel depot in London has flared up again.
The union has been in unsuccessful talks with UPS through the Acas employment service since December 2013 over bullying problems and excessive workloads at the UPS Camden depot.
After a demonstration outside the depot to highlight the problems and intensive leafleting across other London depots, the union is now preparing to ballot for a national strike.
Matt Draper, national officer for road transport and logistics, said: “Feedback from our members at other depots across the country points to similar problems.
“UPS is day-by-day resembling the mill owners of Victorian times rather than the employer of choice it claims to be.”
