TV licence staff settlement

Members of the CWU communication workers’ union employed by television licensing contractor Capita TVL have endorsed a pay deal worth a minimum of 2% on all basic rates.

The basic rise will apply to around 800 CWU-grades employees employed at the company’s sites in Darwen, Lancashire and Bristol, and as enquiry officers and detection van drivers.

Additionally, the agreement includes a monetary settlement to compensate field members for travelling time.

CWU assistant secretary Andy Furey said: “As a result of this pressure from the CWU, a significant proportion of our operations (office-based) membership will see their pay go up by an average 5.1% compared to last year, with many of our field members benefitting from a 4% overall pay boost.”

The deal was backed by over four out of five (82%) members.
