UNISON adds more members
Membership of public services union UNISON has grown for the second year running, the union has announced.
UNISON says it signed up 176,469 new members in 2019, which amounts to a 3,748 net increase in membership, after taking into account those who left the union during the year.
Recruitment was up in all sectors and service groups covered by the union, especially in health care and in the private and community sectors.
The union is particularly pleased with an 11% increase in young members joining the union between 2017 and 2019.
UNISON said: “All the hard work by our activists and stewards, branches, regions, UNISON Centre and staff is paying off.”
