Drivers take industrial action over rosters


Dial-a-Ride workers in London took part in a second series of strikes this month in protest at the withdrawal of 10 rest days a year and the imposition of new rosters. 


General union Unite says the proposed changes will endanger the safety of its members and Dial-a-Ride users as drivers will not have sufficient time to recover between shifts.


The 120 workers, who provide special needs transport for elderly people, the vulnerable and those with disabilities on behalf of Transport for London, took part in two 24-hour stoppages earlier this month. This followed 48-hour strike action in late March 2018. 


The union says further talks with conciliation service Acas have failed to progress a resolution to the dispute.
