Union recognition in voluntary sector
Two unions — UNISON and Unite — have signed a recognition agreement with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).
The unions will jointly negotiate with the charity over organisational changes to pay and terms and conditions and be consulted on collective redundancies, TUPE and pension matters. The agreement also means the unions are recognised for consultation and representation on health and safety.
It “will enable all workers employed by RNIB to play an active role in maintaining a good working environment and protection for their terms and conditions of employment through their trade union,” said UNISON regional organiser Sarah O’Donoghue.
