World Cup advice

With the World Cup starting on 12 June, the employment relations service Acas has produced some guidance around issues that affect employees and employers.

The main advice centres on requests for annual leave; sickness absence; and website use during working hours.

It would, says Acas, be best to have agreements in place regarding such issues as time off, sickness absence or even watching TV before the start of the World Cup or any other major sporting event.

Overall, flexibility from both employers and staff throughout the World Cup period is key to a productive business and engaged workforce, according to Acas.
