Lidl Poland - 9.3% rise

Around 15,000 employees of the supermarket chain Lidl in Poland will benefit from a pay rise next month, which, following earlier increases, means that their monthly pay will be 9.3% higher than a year ago. This is much higher than annual inflation, which was 1.9% in January, and it reflects employers’ difficulties across Poland in recruiting and retaining staff.

Under the new scales, new starts will get between 2,800 zł (£595) to 3,550 zł (£754)a month, rising to 2,950 zł (£627)to 3,750 zł (£797) after a year and 3,150 zł (£670) to 4,050 zł (£861) after two years. The actual pay varies with the location of the shops and the local cost of living. Average private sector earnings in Poland were 4,589 zł (£976) a month in January.
