Hungarian union recognition


Hungarian metalworking union VASAS is in a bitter battle with management in its attempt to build membership in the Suzuki car plant at Esztergom. 


The union accuses the Japanese-owned company of sacking its main representative in the plant, refusing to enter into meaningful negotiations and denying VASAS its right to have access to employees. 


There are around 2,500 employees at the plant and VASAS claims it has several hundred members.
