Call for snap HSE inspections

General union Unite has advised the government to lift restrictions on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities that prevent them making unannounced safety inspections in sectors such as social care, health, the transport sector, agriculture, shops, offices, pubs, postal services and light manufacturing, Unite has asked the government to introduce measures to ensure that proactive safety inspections can be undertaken in these sectors.
