Romanian health unions sign new agreement

Romanian unions, led by the health union Sanitas, have succeeded in getting their agreement for the publicly-funded health sector signed and officially registered, overcoming the hurdles that industry-level agreements face in Romania. The agreement runs for 24 months from November 2019 and is the product of more than two-and-a-half years of negotiations. Registering the agreement ensures that its terms and conditions apply equally to the around 180,000 employees in public health, and key benefits identified by the unions are that additional holiday entitlements have been maintained, there are new arrangements to tackle occupational diseases and workload has been reduced.
