Favourable equal pay ruling secured
The GMB general union has secured a landmark Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) ruling in its equal pay battle against the Asda retail chain.
The EAT recently confirmed that Asda store workers’ jobs are comparable to those carried out by the higher-paid distribution staff working at Asda distribution centres. As a result, the GMB’s equal pay case, pursued on behalf of a large number of female Asda shopworkers, can now proceed.
