More help goes online

Even more resources have been posted online as a way of working around the limitations imposed by the coronavirus lockdown.

The TUC has added to its already impressive range of support with two new resources: Coronavirus help for union reps and Organising through the coronavirus crisis. This joins earlier advice, including on bereavement and on persuading bosses to avoid redundancies.

The TUC’s unionlearn arm is offering a webinar on tackling isolation during lockdown. Another new release is the unionlearn isolation book club. Details of this and other offerings are on the unionlearn website. Don’t forget too that the Open University runs an extraordinarly wide range of free short courses. .

On 28 April the Department of Education announced The Skills Toolkit, a free online learning platform designed to help those at home improve their work skills. It offers a variety of courses – introductory, intermediate and advance – typically centred on numeracy and digital skills. Employers are also encouraged to use it to help support furloughed employees who are interested in learning from home.
