RPI rises for second month

Inflation edged up for a second month in succession to 1.5% in April from 1.3% in March.

Higher petrol costs and larger rises in council tax this year were to blame.

The underlying inflation rate, which excludes mortgage costs, was unchanged at 2.3%.
