Pub managers

The section of Unite union covering pub managers, licensees and restaurant and club managers, formerly the union NAHLM, has been relaunched as Licensees Unite as part of an effort to help the ailing pub industry.

It says the industry is in crisis, with declining beer sales and accelerating pub closures. “The publican is in the front line of dealing with issues like the smoking ban and excessive drinking by young people,” it says. The committee of Licensees Unite will be initiating a major recruitment campaign.
