Missing taxes

The TUC has criticised the “huge amounts of unpaid tax by the super-rich” uncovered in a recent report by HM Revenue and Customs. Measuring the tax gap — an update estimated tax avoidance in the UK to be between £10 billion and £40 billion in 2005.

The upper figure is even higher than the TUC’s £25 billion estimate in its own report published earlier this year, The missing billions — the UK tax gap.
