Union action secures Tube safety

A strike threat has forced London Underground (LU) to scrap a scheme involving the use of agency staff and “mobile station supervisors” for crucial safety jobs.

Tube unions RMT and TSSA suspended plans for three days of action last month after LU pledged to ensure that all station staff are directly employed and fully trained to the firm’s safety standards.
