House price figures keep on falling

UK house prices fell by 10.9% in August compared to the previous year, according to mortgage lender the Halifax. The cost of an average home was down to £174,178 — similar to February 2006.

Halifax said that raising the stamp duty threshold to £175,000 “will benefit a significant number of homebuyers, particularly outside the south east of England”.
