Inflation continues upwards

Higher fuel prices and dearer food have pushed inflation up. Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), the rate of inflation was 4.8% in December against 4.7% the previous month, Office for National Statistics figures show.

Under the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), inflation was at its highest for eight months — up to 3.7% from 3.3% the previous month.
