Rail union elections

The general secretary of the RMT rail union, Bob Crow, has been re-elected unopposed for a further five-year term. He received 131 nominations. RMT president Alex Gordon said that this was “a total vindication of the industrial and political strategy … under Bob’s leadership”.

And Manuel Cortes has been elected unopposed as leader of the TSSA transport staffs union to replace Gerry Doherty who is retiring. Cortes is currently the union’s assistant general secretary.
