French unions increase membership

Both the CGT and CFDT have recently published membership figures. And, although the two confederations use different methods to calculate their membership numbers, both show a small increase.

The CGT states that it had 681,930 members in 2010 — 1.8% more than 2009. And the CFDT says its membership was 863,674 at the end of 2011, or 1.4% more than a year earlier.
