Inflation goes up

There was no good news on inflation in official and unofficial figures.

The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) was up to 3.3% in March from 3.2% the previous month. The RPI has been downgraded by the Office for National Statistics.

Under the government’s preferred measure — the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — annual inflation was unchanged at 2.8%.
