Polish maternity leave

The Polish parliament is currently considering a government proposal which would effectively double the length of maternity leave from the current six months to a year.

Half of the period would be maternity leave, with the remainder classed as parental leave which either parent could take. Parents would be paid 80% of their normal pay.

The new arrangements are expected to come into force this year.
