Teachers industrial action

Members of teaching unions the NUT and NASUWT are continuing their campaign of industrial action under the banner Protect teachers and defend education.

On 1 October, strike action took place in the Eastern, East Midlands, West Midlands, and Yorkshire and the Humber regions. And on 17 October, the action covered the North East, London, South East and South West regions.

Christine Blower, general secretary of the NUT, said teachers were taking action because the government had “done nothing to address the crisis of low morale in the teaching profession”.
