Inflation measures
Every March, the Office for National Statistics updates the representative items in the nation’s shopping basket which is then used to measure inflation and to compare it over time. Fourteen new items have been added this year, while nine have been dropped.
The changes include video streaming services and digital single lens reflex cameras which have been added to the basket, while DVD recorders and compact cameras have been dropped.
