Certification Officer schedules hearing on Unite's general secretary's election

General union Unite may have to re-run its general secretary election — won by Len McCluskey last year — after a complaint was made to the certification officer.

According to the UnionNews website, losing candidate Jerry Hicks has claimed that the election was rigged, and that 156,000 ballot papers were sent to members no longer paying subscriptions.
