Antenatal rights

As of last month, fathers and partners now have the right to unpaid time off work to accompany a pregnant woman to two antenatal appointments (see Labour Research, October 2014, page 25).

The new right, which forms part of the Children and Families Act 2014, is not linked to length of service — employees have the right to the time off from the first day of employment.
