Joblessness falls again

Unemployment fell again in the three months to November, with numbers down by 58,000 to 1.9 million. The unemployment rate was down to 5.8% — the lowest rate since the three months to September 2008. The number of unemployed men fell by 26,000 and the number of unemployed women by 31,000.

The claimant count, which only incudes those on Jobseekers’ Allowance, fell by 29,700 to 867,700.
