Joblessness falls again

Unemployment fell by 97,000 to 1.86 million in the three months to December 2014, according to the Labour Force Survey. It was last lower over six years ago.The unemployment rate was down to 5.7% from 6.0% in the previous three-month period.

January saw a 38,600 fall in the claimant count, which only includes those unemployed who are claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance. The joblessness rate was down to 2.5% from 2.6%.
