Disability discrimination

Q. I had a serious depressive illness six years ago but have been completely free from illness for the last four years. Am I still protected from disability discrimination?

Yes. This is because the Equality Act 2010 continues to protect someone who was disabled in the past but who has since recovered.

As long as your original illness had a substantial and long-term effect on your ability to carry out day-to-day activities, you will remain protected against disability discrimination by the employment provisions of the Equality Act for the rest of your working life.
