New director

A new director of labour market enforcement was announced recently.

Sir David Metcalf’s role will pull together the work of three enforcement bodies — the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate and HMRC’s National Minimum Wage enforcement team.

The intention is for them to share intelligence and to “stamp out exploitation” (see Labour Research, March 2016, pages 16-18).
