Inflation still rising

The inflation surge continued in October with increases on all three frequently-quoted measures.

The Retail Price Index (RPI) saw a jump by 6.0% (up from 4.9%), the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) by 4.2% (up from 3.1%) and CPI with a housing element (CPIH) by 3.8% (up from 2.9%).

Among other things, the ONS attributed the rises to housing/household services, transport, restaurants/hotels, education and furniture.
