RPI remains steady

Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation stuck at 1.4% for the year to February. It opened up the gap between RPI and the CPI Consumer Prices Index, which was a full percentage point behind at 0.4%, and CPIH at 0.7%. The latter measure includes an element for owner-occupiers’ housing costs.

Slight falls like this in CPI and CPIH can only fuel concerns about the future plan to align RPI to CPIH (see page 25).
