Covid measures

The Zero Covid campaign last month called on the new health secretary, Steve Barclay, to introduce public health measures to reduce community transmission and save lives. These include improved ventilation, mask wearing on public transport and in crowded indoor spaces and free lateral flow testing

It says the Covid death toll has only briefly dropped to under 50 people a day, while cases are again “sky-rocketing”.

At the end of June 2022, the Cabinet Office published the final terms of reference for the UK Covid-19 public inquiry.

This will “examine, consider and report on preparations and the response to the pandemic in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, up to and including the Inquiry’s formal setting-up date, 28 June 2022”.
