Harassment help for teachers

Teachers' unions are tackling harassment and bullying in schools by the publication of new guidance. The NUT has just published new guidelines on harassment and bullying for its members and also guidance on negotiating local education authority policies and procedures to deal with the issue.

The NASUWT is concerned with homophobic bullying. It believes that this is an issue for every member and that, as long as it is commonplace within society, schools will not be immune from the problem. The NASUWT guide covers policy advice and support.

The guides are available from the unions' websites at www.teachers.org.uk (NUT) and www.teachersunion.org.uk (NASUWT).
