Rise in tribunal claims

There was a 30% jump in employment tribunal cases in 1999, according to new research from the Engineering Employers' Federation. Discrimination cases rose overall by 20%, with disability claims showing the biggest rise by nearly doubling. The EEF survey also shows that compensation increased significantly, averaging more than £10,500, up by more than a third over the previous year.
