Negotiations on telework

The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) as well as the employers' bodies at European level, UNICE (private sector) and CEEP (public sector), last month started negotiations on teleworking. The idea is not to form a legally binding directive but an agreement between unions and employers which will be applied at national level by the affiliates of the two sides. However, this could be problematic in the UK as the CBI, which is UNICE's UK affiliate, has no power to bind its member companies.
