T&G leader speaks out on safety

Bill Morris, general secretary of the T&G general workers' union, has hit back at Manchester Airport managing director David Teale who demanded that Morris refrain from commenting about safety concerns at the airport. Morris made his comments in the wake of T&G warnings that the Airport was to cut safety and security costs by 30% with the loss of 200 jobs. He said, "I am furious with this crude attempt at censorship. I will not be gagged. In the interests of the travelling public I will continue to raise my concerns about Manchester Airport and keep the Secretary of State informed." (See also disputes on page 5)
