Pay below minimum

Nearly a third of a million workers aged 18 and over were earning less than the national minimum wage in Spring 2001, according to the latest estimates.

But National Statistics warns that this cannot be taken as evidence of non-compliance, since many would be ineligible for the minimum wage, such as apprentices/ trainees.
