Royal Mail faces dispute

A dispute over London Weighting is brewing at Royal Mail, where the CWU communications union is balloting for industrial action.

This follows submission of a claim for £4,000 a year which would require rises of over £1,200 a year for inner London and over £2,000 a year for outer London. Management has offered an increase of £100 a year, which the CWU describes as "derisory".

Meanwhile the long-running London Weighting dispute in local government is now involving selective strike action for periods of up to four weeks in 22 of the 32 London boroughs.
