Law Matters

Minimum wage changes

National minimum wage laws are to be changed to give enforcement officers more power. The changes will make it clear that enforcement orders cover ex-employees as well as current ones. Enforcement officers will also be able to amend or withdraw enforcement and penalty notices where they realise that they are incorrect. Tribunals will be allowed to rectify these notices even where this would increase the amount which the enforcement notice specifies is owed by the employer.
