Law Matters

Long service

The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) has ruled that an employee's dishonesty in borrowing a vehicle without permission amounted to a breach of trust and was as serious as any other type of gross misconduct. The EAT made clear that it was a fair dismissal and could not be deemed unfair simply because the employee had long service and an unblemished disciplinary record until the incident in question.
