Marx's Capital

Ben Fine and Alfredo Saad-Filho, Pluto Press, 200 pages, paperback, £9.99

There has been a quiet revival in Marxist political economy over the last decade or so, though it has been largely confined to academic circles. This book presents the results of that renaissance in a clear, easy-to-read format that should win the book a large readership.

The authors explain the labour theory of value with admirable clarity, addressing objections and providing examples from the real economy.

The book constantly refers to the contemporary relevance of concepts such as value, labour power and the circuit of capital for current discussions on globalisation, the state and the market.
