NAO condemns construction safety

A National Audit Office (NAO) report has shown that building workers are three times more likely to suffer a serious workplace injury than other workers.

It says: "The construction industry has a poor safety record compared with other sectors of the UK economy [and its] health record is also poor." The industry accounted for over 30% of workplace deaths in 2002-03.

The report can be downloaded at www.nao.org. uk/publications/nao_reports/03-04/0304531.pdf
