Lawyers criticise manslaughter bill

The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) says the draft corporate manslaughter bill is unworkable and must be completely redrafted.

Describing the bill as "confusing and full of loopholes", the APIL highlights a number of discrepancies. For example, when listing the organisations it will cover, the bill includes the Department of Health but not the NHS.

The APIL also wants the Companies Act amended so that individual directors guilty of health and safety breaches do not get away scot-free.
