UNISON targets call-centre voice loss

Thousands of call-centre workers are talking their way out of a job, public services union UNISON has warned.

UK call centres employ 860,000 people, and an estimated one in 50 will suffer voice loss. UNISON wants them to be given at least five minutes of non-vocal time per hour, easy access to fresh drinking water, and rest from phone work for workers suffering from colds or sore throats.
